First slap of the World Cup

Canada, the reigning Olympic champion, was eliminated Monday from the Women’s World Cup in the first round, slapped by Australia.

This is the first major surprise of the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Canada, Olympic champion in August 2021 in Yokohama (Japan), was eliminated in the first round after a stinging defeat suffered on Monday against one of the organizing countries .

In the final classification of this group B, Australia (6 points) is ahead of Nigeria (5 pts), Canada (4 pts) and Ireland (1 pt).
