Dani Alves will be tried for rape

The Superior Court of Catalonia confirmed on Monday that Dani Alves would indeed be tried for rape soon.

Prosecuted for “sexual assault” – a criminal term including rape in Spain – the 40-year-old Brazilian footballer has been imprisoned since January 20.

The former PSG full-back is accused by a young woman who allegedly suffered this attack in a Barcelona nightclub on December 30, 2022.

The first elements of the investigation, and in particular the analysis of the video surveillance of the night establishment, were able to corroborate the words of the alleged victim.

Excluding aggravating circumstances, Dani Alves faces a 12-year prison sentence under Spanish law.
