Real Madrid are fast approaching the new season and, following the departure of Karim Benzema, will turn to Vinicius Junior to lead their attack.
We can say that Vinicius was already doing it last year, but since the Frenchman is no longer there, it is the Brazilian who will most often be at the forefront of the attack.
Recently, he changed his number and took Cristiano Ronaldo’s old number 7, which he is grateful for, as he told brand.
“I’m very grateful to wear this shirt that very good players have worn. I am inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo because I saw all his matches and he marked an era in the club. He is an idol for me”.
It’s obviously no surprise that he chooses the Portuguese as his idol, as he’s an integral part of Real Madrid’s history. A whole generation grew up admiring Ronaldo, who is by far the club’s all-time top scorer.
That said, it contradicts the now well-known story that Vinicius was a fan of FC Barcelona when he was a teenager. Gerard Pique has previously spoken about Vinicius’ desire to join FC Barcelona before he joined Real Madrid, while agent Andre Cury has also claimed that Vinicius cried during a FC Barcelona defeat, just two years old before joining Los Blancos.
