Even if you are a fan of FC Barcelona or even a follower of La Liga, it is very likely that the name of Julian Araujo does not mean much to you. Arrived last winter against 4 million euros, the Mexican side had already been at the heart of a small imbroglio since the document validating his transfer at the very end of the summer transfer window arrived late… by 18 seconds. He could therefore not be registered by Barça to play in the second half of the season, and therefore did not play a single minute in an official match under the orders of Xavi.
Yet considered one of the most promising players in the American championship before his arrival, Araujo had not particularly made a strong impression during training in Barcelona. As indicated AShe hasn’t really convinced Xavi and the Barcelona technical staff, and Barca don’t really know what to do with him right now.
What future for him?
Yet renowned for his offensive qualities and his physical abilities, he does not seem to correspond to what Xavi is looking for, which still raises questions about the interest of his recruitment just 6 months ago. It is no coincidence that Barça is still looking for a right side, where Koundé is the regular holder and where the Catalans still want reinforcements and are working on players like Maffeo, Fresneda or Cancelo. What future for Araujo then? Good question…
For the moment, it does not really jostle at the gate for him. There has been some interest from clubs like Las Palmas and FC Porto, and the Portuguese outfit currently seem to be the heavy favourites. Barça hopes to take advantage of this Lusitanian interest to be able to recover a small check which it badly needs.
