The Swedes had to wait until the last minutes to dominate South Africa (2-1) at the World Cup.

Semi-finalists of the tournament four times in eight appearances, Sweden is still one of the nations to watch at the Women’s World Cup.

For their entry into the running in the 2023 World Cup, the Scandinavians are struggling to defeat South Africa (2-1). While the Banyana Banyana had opened the scoring at the start of the second half by Hildah Magaia (48th), Fridolina Rolfo equalized (65th), and then it was Parisian Amanda Ilestedt who gave victory to her team by placing her head on a corner (90th).

Sweden thus takes the lead of a group where we also find the Argentinian and Italy.
