Sunday morning, at dawn, FC Barcelona was to start its pre-season friendly match against Juventus.
But viral gastroenteritis broke out in Xavi Hernandez’s team, which led to the cancellation of the match.
Several members contracted the virus, which forced FC Barcelona to postpone the event, much to the despair of the thousands of supporters who could have attended.
FC Barcelona will be disappointed not to have been able to participate in the match, but there was not much to do. However, this means that they did not receive 2 million euros for their participation in the game against Juventus, as reported MD.
An upcoming Clasico
Looking ahead, FC Barcelona are set to face Arsenal in their second (and now first) pre-season friendly, and the club have announced that they intend to play that match.
Xavi hopes to be able to count on his entire squad for this game, and especially for Saturday’s Clasico against Real Madrid, which will be the real recipe for Barcelona’s tour of the United States.
