Bleues, Hervé Renard’s big decision?

Faced with the accumulation of injuries that is impacting the French women’s football team, Hervé Renard worked on a tactical upheaval when it came time to enter the 2023 World Cup on Sunday.

From Marie-Antoinette Katoto to Delphine Cascarino via Amandine Henry and Oriane Jean-François, the French women’s team has not been varnished in terms of packages for the 2023 World Cup. And the injured players continue to accumulate, certainly with lesser consequences, but with always more problems for Hervé Renard. Touched in an ankle on July 14 during a friendly against Australia (0-1), Selma Bacha remained in the group but will not be able to play again with July 29, for the second match of the Blues at the World Cup, against Brazil. Ditto for Elisa De Almeida, injured in the calf on Saturday during training. So many physical glitches that prompted Hervé Renard to react.

According to the latest indiscretions of RMC, the tricolor coach would have set up working sessions with a change of system. While he used the 4-3-3 until now, the tactician proceeded to a new implementation during the last sessions and it would now be a 4-4-2 which would be privileged. Hervé Renard’s idea is to strengthen his midfield with this new organization. A sector which had also fished during the setback against Australia. Since the tricolor defensive line is weakened by several absences, strengthening the middle could be the solution.

Karchaoui to replace Bacha?

Against Jamaica, which Les Bleues face on Sunday (12:00 p.m.) for their entry into the competition, it is first of all a line of four defenders who is expected in front of goalkeeper Peyraud-Magnin. Captain Renard will be alongside Lakhrar, (Estelle) Cascarino and Karchaoui, since the latter is currently holding the rope to occupy the left lane in the absence of Bacha. In the middle, Toletti could evolve alongside Dali, Geyoro and Matéo. Unless Majri is preferred over the latter. As for the attack, it is a priori a Le Sommer-Diani duo that is expected.

The probable composition of the France team:

Peyraud-Magnin – Lakhrar, Renard, E. Cascarino, Karchaoui – Toletti, Dali, Geyoro, Matéo – Le Sommer, Diani
