Riyad Mahrez will evolve under the orders of a Portuguese coach within his new formation of Al-Ahli.
Barring an improbable turnaround, Riyad Mahrez will leave Manchester City for Al-Ahli. The Algerian international passed his medical examination in London on Thursday, prior to his commitment to the Saudi Pro League team.
A golden bridge for Mahrez and his future coach
Al-Ahli was managed last season by South African Pitso Mosimane. To replace him, the leaders in place had first thought of Luciano Spalletti, but now they are about to bet on a Portuguese technician. This is Marco Silva.
A staggering salary is offered to this coach to leave Fulham. The interested party could therefore leave the Cottagers, just like center-forward Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Saudis initially went after Mitrovic, which angered Fulham owner Tony Khan and prompted negative comments about the Saudi government. According to Sky Sports, the Saudi authorities have now made an offer for Silva, who has a £6m release clause in his contract.
Leaving the Premier League may not be in Silva’s best interests from a career perspective. However, he is being offered 46 million euros on a two-year deal which could be up to four times his current salary.
