Considered one of the favorites for the final victory, Canada had to settle for a goalless draw for their entry into the running at the World Cup.

Reigning Olympic champions, the Canadians missed out on Friday for their first match of the World Cup. Despite their domination, Bev Priestman’s players could not do better than a draw (0-0) against Nigeria.

Canada however benefited from a penalty but Christine Sinclair missed it, Chiamaka Nnadozie, the goalkeeper of Paris FC, stopping the attempt of the top scorer in history in selection (190), women and men combined.

Canada is already up against the wall in a Group B led by Australia, winner of Ireland, Thursday.
