New Zealand, host country of the 2023 World Cup along with Australia, has just achieved the first surprise of the competition by beating Norway.
In the opening match of this Women’s World Cup, the only goal was scored by Hannah Wilkinson after a counter-attack smoothly led by the New Zealanders, shortly after half-time, in the 48th minute of play. Served six meters by Jacqui Hand, the striker managed to deceive Aurora Mikalsen, the Norwegian goalkeeper.
