Real Madrid have had a very good transfer window so far, despite losing important first-team players such as Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.
Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, Joselu Mato and Arda Guler have all been added to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, and more additions could follow.
Benzema has not yet been replaced by Florentino Perez and the Merengues are still dreaming of Kylian Mbappé. The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital for several years now, but there seems to be real belief that he will finally make his move soon.
The player rejected Real Madrid last year in order to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain. It was a two-year deal, which expires next summer, and the France international recently said he has no intention of renewing it.
He would therefore be free to join any club next summer as a free agent, and Real would certainly be the favorites to secure his signature. However, given that PSG are unwilling to let Mbappé go for free, a transfer could be brought forward to this summer, although a huge transfer fee is likely to be required.
Real Madrid are afraid of being ridiculed again by Mbappé
Either way, a move to Real Madrid in the next 12 months looks very likely for Mbappé. However, a recent report has suggested that PSG may be able to persuade the striker to sign a new lease this summer, provided he is cleared to leave in 2024.
While Madrid are unlikely to have any problem paying a transfer fee for the Bondynois, this situation would certainly give Perez and his teammates a sense of deja vu. PSG could then very easily decide not to sell next summer which would bring Los Blancos back to square one.
