Manchester City have made an attempt to sign Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde. According to daily El Mundo Deportivo, City tried to secure Baldé’s services this summer. But the youngster preferred to continue with Blaugrana and thus rejected an outstanding contract offer from the reigning European champions.

If Baldé said no to the Eastlands, it is also because he has received guarantees from his club that he will soon be rewarded. The same Catalan source say he is close to extending his contract with Barca.
Baldé will be the first choice at left-back in the coming season. He will take the place of Jordi Alba, released by the club and who is about to sign with Inter Miami.
Already last season, Xavi very often called on Baldé since the latter played 44 games for his training, including 36 as a starter. In terms of cumulative playing time, he is the 7e most used player in the squad. Regarding his statistics, he was also successful with a goal scored and six assists offered.
