David Beckham has revealed Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut could be delayed.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has revealed that Messi’s planned debut, against Cruz Azul later in the week, could be pushed back as the club assess their new signing’s fitness following his unveiling.

Addressing ESPN ArgentinaBeckham said: We don’t know if Leo is going to play the game or if he will have minutes, because I think after all he has to be ready. We have to protect him and make sure he’s ready because he was on vacation and just arrived in Miami. He’s been training and he looks good.

“I think Leo and Tata (Martino) will decide when and if he plays on Friday, but the atmosphere here will be amazing and hopefully we can win.
