Olympique Lyonnais did not convince the DNCG on Tuesday and remains subject to “supervision of the wage bill and transfer allowances”.

Fifteen days ago, Olympique Lyonnais missed their oral against the DNCG. The Professional Clubs Control Commission had then decided to impose a ” supervision of payroll and transfer allowances at the Rhone club. After reflection, John Textor and his management had chosen to appeal this sanction, with the hope of reversing the trend. This Tuesday, facing the Appeal Commission of the French Football Federation, the American owner failed.

According to an indiscretion of RMC, John Textor therefore did not convince his audience. Consequently, if Olympique Lyonnais will still have the right to recruit, it will be forced to announce a limit on its provisional budget dedicated to the payment of salaries. The set threshold must in no case be exceeded, under penalty of sanctions. A bad blow for coach Laurent Blanc, who hoped to take advantage of this summer transfer window to strengthen his workforce.

Recruit wisely

For now, OL have already recruited two men: Skelly Alvero (midfielder) and Clinton Mata (defender). Several players have left, including Houssem Aouar (AS Rome), Habib Keita (Clermont), Thiago Mendes (Al-Rayyan) and Romain Faivre (Bournemouth). It now remains for recruiters in Lyon to best target their needs in order to attract the best possible elements at the right price.
