To compensate for the very likely departure of Fabinho, the Mersey club is preparing to bet on a former member of RC Lens.

Liverpool are set to lose Brazilian midfielder Fabinho. The latter is expected in Saudi Arabia and this transfer makes a lot of teeth cringe. The Reds would have already moved on. They have identified the replacement for the former Monegasque. It should be Cheick Doucouré, the Crystal Palace midfielder.

Klopp seeks the middle ground

According to Football Insider, Doucoure is being considered by the Reds management. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was impressed with Doucoure last season and discussed his possible signing with sporting director Jorg Schmadtke.

Doucouré joined Palace a year ago from Lens, where he was part of Franck Haise’s executives. His first season across the Channel was quite satisfying. Under Patrick Vieira, he played a total of 34 games in the English top flight.

Note that in addition to Fabinho, Liverpool also risk having to part with Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara. His midfield is therefore in danger of being seriously stripped.
