Mercato market: it's historic for Strasbourg

The Strasbourg Racing Club has recruited Abakar Sylla. The defender becomes the most expensive transfer in the history of the Alsatian club.

We wouldn’t have guessed. Abakar Sylla has become the biggest transfer in the history of Racing Club de Strasbourg. The 20-year-old Ivorian central defender arrived from Club Brugge for 20 million euros, and two bonuses, according to information from Fabrizio Romano.

This is a great operation for the Belgian team which recruited Sylla two years ago for… 200,000 euros, recalls the RTBF. THE Blauw en Zwart have already sold Clinton Mata (OL – 5M) and Noa Lang (PSV Eindhoven – 12.5M) this summer.

Abakar Sylla follows a fairly fast trajectory. He left Côte d’Ivoire less than two years ago (September 2021) and he will know a third club after Club NXT (Belgian D2) and Club Brugge where he only stayed for one season.
