Manchester United are keeping tabs on Real Madrid players David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger after missing out on Kim Min-jae, according to sensational reports in Spain.
The Red Devils are set to complete the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana in the coming days, after letting David de Gea leave when his contract expired, while Atalanta wonderkid Rasmus Hojlund is their number one target to fill the void in front.
However, Erik ten Hag’s side are insisting on signing another centre-back as questions over Harry Maguire’s future intensify.
The England international was downgraded to fourth-choice by the Dutch manager last season and has been heavily linked with a departure as he targets a starting spot in the Three Lions squad for the 2024 European Championship .
Gareth Southgate has told his players they need to continue playing regularly at club level to be included in the competition’s starting XI, which Maguire is unlikely to do next season.
With Maguire set to leave Old Trafford, the Red Devils have offered Real Madrid players Alaba and Rudiger as potential candidates to leave this summer.
Man Utd go after Real Madrid stars
According to the Spanish daily El National, Man Utd have set their sights on Alaba and Rudiger after Kim Min-jae opted to join Bayern Munich in the summer.
The South Korea international was previously Man Utd’s number one target at centre-back but his decision to join the Bundesliga has forced Man Utd to alter their transfer plans. However, he hasn’t officially joined the Bavarian club yet.
The report states that Alaba ‘considers listening to Man Utd’s offer’, while Ten Hag is ‘optimistic’ that a deal will be struck for the versatile Austrian.
