Inter Miami have officially announced the signing of Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami have finally officially announced the signing of Messi as a free agent. The World Cup winner joins the club following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi’s transfer to Miami, which has appointed Tata Martino as manager, was long rumored but the deal has now been confirmed, giving fans a glimpse of the former FC Barcelona icon in the pink shirt of the club.

Major League Soccer also released a statement welcoming the signing.

MLS commissioner Don Garber said: “We are delighted that the greatest player in the world has chosen Inter Miami CF and Major League Soccer, and his decision is a testament to the momentum and energy that drives our league and our sport in North America.

“We have no doubt that Lionel will show the world that MLS can be a league of choice for the best players in the world. We can’t wait to see him start with Inter Miami in our League Cup tournament at the end of the month.
