French clubs can push a “phew” of relief! This Friday, UEFA announced that Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco will not be subject to sanctions for non-compliance with financial fair play. Indeed, the three residents of Ligue 1 have all “met the objectives set for the 2022 financial year”.

After recording significant losses in previous years, particularly during the Covid-19 epidemic, the three French clubs had signed a “settlement agreement” with UEFA and were obliged to gradually readjust their accounts on three years. Even if the formations previously mentioned are now in the nails, they will however have to take care to control their finances under penalty of being exposed to financial sanctions like other European teams like Manchester United or FC Barcelona. Finally, UEFA announced the end of the sanctions against Lille, namely a restriction of players registered for European competitions and the obligation to show a net positive transfer balance, for having also reached the agreement. settlement signed in 2020.
