Returning to Brazil after more than a decade of exile, David Luiz has not forgotten his wonderful years spent in Europe. The Brazilian defender left his mark on his time with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, clubs with which he won a multitude of trophies. At the end of his contract with the Gunners in 2021, the 36-year-old has opted for a final challenge at Flamengo. But in an interview with FlaTVthe Auriverde with 37 selections with Seleçao revealed that Olympique de Marseille, looking for an experienced defender and through Jorge Sampaoli, tried to bring him to Canebière.
However, the native of Diadema declined the proposal because of his link with PSG, eternal rival of the Marseille club. “Sampaoli wanted to attract me to OM. When I signed for Flamengo, he was in Marseille. He traveled and met me in Angra. He wanted me to go to Marseilles. With all due respect, I told him that I had a history with PSG and, out of respect, I couldn’t go to OM.explained David Luiz who now evolves under the colors of Flamengo.
