To replace the last Senegalese bulwark, the London club plans to bet on another goalkeeper from the English championship.
Chelsea and manager Mauricio Pochettino are monitoring Emiliano Martinez’s situation at Aston Villa. A raid for his recruitment could intervene quickly and the Albiceleste international could thus have the chance to join a more upscale English club.
Pochettino wants a compatriot in Chelsea goal
After selling Edou Mendy to Al-Ahli, the London club would like to buy a new quality doorman to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga. According to talkSPORT, Martinez would therefore be the preferred target of the Blues.
The Argentine world champion therefore has admirers in London, but Villa is not particularly selling. Martinez signed a new contract until 2027 in January 2022, leaving his Birmingham club in a strong position.
As a reminder, Chelsea had once thought of betting on the young Frenchman Illan Meslier but this interest has since faded. Regarding the track Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris SG), it was nothing serious.
