British international midfielder Dele Alli has delivered a poignant account of the origins of his recent descent into hell.
In an interview with the former glory of Manchester United, Garry Neville, Dele Alli returned to the reasons for his absence from the field during this season. A disappearance of several weeks on which the English international confided on loan from Everton to Besiktas for this financial year 2022-23. The opportunity for the child of Milton Keynes to openly expose his past, and his traumas, revealing, in particular, to have been the victim of violence by his mother’s family, and forced to sell and consume drugs from his most young age.
“I suffered abuse”
“When I came back from Turkey, I realized that I needed psychological help, first dropped the former Tottenham playmaker. I was at the bottom of the hole. I decided to go to a modern rehabilitation center that deals with addiction issues, mental health and trauma. I felt it was time for me”he confided.
“At the age of six, I was touched by a friend of my mother who often came to the house. My mother was an alcoholic. At seven I started smoking and at eight I started selling drugs. An older person told me the police wouldn’t arrest a kid on a bike, so I was walking around with my soccer ball, and then underneath I had drugs. I was eight years old, he added.
I’m struggling to find the words to put with this post but please watch my most recent interview with Dele. It’s the most emotional, difficult yet inspirational conversation I’ve ever had in my life. Watch the interview on @wearetheoverlap here https://t.co/60d4IZwQmR pic.twitter.com/0cZowJGW77

“The biggest decision of my life”
“It’s always me against myself in all areas. I was winning the fight, smiling, showing that I was happy, but inside I was definitely losing the battle. Trauma is trauma and your body registers it the same way, whatever it is, continued the playmaker. I went there for six weeks. Everton have been amazing and supported me. I will be grateful to them forever. They were so honest and understanding, I couldn’t ask for anything more at a time when I was making the biggest decision of my life for something I was afraid to do. I’m glad I did. »said Dele Alli, under contract with the Toffees until June 2024.
