Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico is within “half a centimeter” of death after a riding accident in May.
Sergio Rico was trampled by a horse while taking part in an annual pilgrimage to the El Rocio region of Spain. Rico fell off his horse and suffered injuries so severe that he was in a coma for three weeks.
The guard was sedated twice, but woke up and left intensive care.
The Team reports that a Spanish TV show viewed his medical report and said Rico was “half a centimeter” from death.
Rico has since taken to his Instagram account and posted a story thanking everyone.
“I wanted to thank all the people who witnessed my accident and who sent me their love in these difficult days”, did he declare. ” Once again, thank you all and I hope to see you again soon”.
Rico hopes to fully recover from his accident and return to PSG. The goalkeeper had joined the club in 2019 on loan, before being definitively transferred the following year.
