Al-Ittihad are reportedly preparing a £40m bid for Liverpool’s Fabinho which would see the Brazilian join N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema at the club.

According The Athletic, Al Ittihad are ready to approach Liverpool with a substantial offer of £40million to secure the Brazilian midfielder’s services. The outcome of the transfer should be determined quickly.

However, Liverpool’s main concern over this potential transfer is the difficulty of letting their starting number 6 go without finding him a suitable replacement.

Liverpool in danger

Although they view Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as a potential replacement, officials at the Merseyside club are well aware of Chelsea’s interest in him should the deal for Moises Caicedo fall through.

Fabinho is currently contracted to Liverpool until 2026, with three years remaining on his lease and has been a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s system, making 49 appearances in the 2022-23 season.

Besides, Reds captain Jordan Henderson has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, where he could reunite with former team-mate Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, further straining Liverpool’s midfield resources.
