FC Barcelona have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Brazilian striker Vitor Roque.

Vitor Roque will sign a seven-year contract with FC Barcelona, which will pay an initial sum of 30 million euros to Athletico Paranaense and 31 million euros in bonuses to the Brazilian club.

Roque, who is already playing at a high level in South America, was selected for the Brazilian national team and scored 22 goals and provided 9 assists for Athletico Paranaense. He is the starting striker for Athletico PR and has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 13 Copa Libertadores appearances.

The first rumors of FC Barcelona’s interest in Roque emerged at the end of 2022. Nine months later, FC Barcelona beat the interest of competitors from the Premier League for Roque in order to obtain his signature. He is believed to have turned down more lucrative offers in order to become a Barcelona player.

He will only do so next season, mainly to give FC Barcelona time to make room in their salary cap to register him.

Roque has been named as Barcelona’s next big number nine, and will arrive to learn from Robert Lewandowski before possibly taking the reins from the Polish striker.
