Draw for the Africa Zone World Cup qualifiers: Instructions, schedule, TV broadcast

African selections will soon be fixed on the teams they will face on the way to the 2026 World Cup.

It is this Thursday that the draw for the World Cup qualifiers will be held in the African zone. All the countries of the continent will know the obstacles which separate them from the 2026 edition of the planetary tournament since there is only one and only one qualifying round planned this time.

On the occasion of the draw, 9 groups of 6 teams will be known. The selections have been split into hats, in accordance with their places in the latest FIFA rankings.

The first of each group will be directly qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The four best runners-up will compete in a mini-championship after which the winner will compete in the intercontinental play-offs.

Hats :

Hat 1: Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, Ivory Coast.

Hat 2: Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Africa, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Guinea, Zambia, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Hat 3: Uganda, Benin, Mauritania, Kenya, Congo, Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, Namibia and Angola.

Hat 4: Mozambique, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Malawi and Libya.

Hat 5: Niger, Comoros, Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Botswana and Liberia.

Pot 6: Lesotho, South Sudan, Mauritius, Chad, São Tomé and Príncipe, Djibouti, Seychelles, Eritrea and Somalia.

What time will the draw start?

The draw will begin at 5 p.m. French time. It will take place in Abidjan, shortly after the general assembly of CAF.

On which channel to follow the draw for the African zone?

In France, no TV channel is broadcasting the event.

The draw will be followed live on CAF’s digital platforms (especially youtube) and the cafonline.com website.
