Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr side have been banned from registering new players after a saga involving ex-Leicester striker Ahmed Musa.

According to DailyMirror, Al-Nassr has been banned from adding new players to his squad this summer. The Saudi club failed to pay Leicester bonuses when they transferred Musa, who joined the club for £14million in 2018.

Musa won the Championship with Al-Nassr but was released in 2020. FIFA ruled the club failed to pay Leicester £390,000 in performance bonuses.

After being warned in 2021 that they risked a registration ban if they failed to pay, the club were indeed suspended from adding players to their squad.

Ronaldo will feel alone

FIFA’s decision stated that the ban could last for three consecutive transfer windows, but the Public Investment Fund (PIF) made it clear that it was ready to pay the sum necessary to lift the ban.

Al-Nassr has signed Brozovic from Inter Milan in his most publicized deal of the current window. Ronaldo, meanwhile, joined Al-Nassr in January and scored 14 goals in his first 16 league appearances for the club but couldn’t help them win the title.
