New in Serie A next year. It’s been exactly a month since the news of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC)’s intention to broadcast the conversations between the referees and the VAR truck was announced. A few days later, President Gabriele Gravina confirmed the agreement with the Dazn channel, broadcaster of the championship. From next season, therefore, everything will be in place thanks to the audio-video agreements belonging to FIGC and Lega Calcio. Not a novelty in itself, given the announcement made by Gravina himself on June 9, but a big step forward for transparency in arbitration.
“With Dazn we will be the first Federation to broadcast the audio of the conversations between the referees a few days after the matches, when episodes have been the subject of lively discussions. We have nothing to fear.”, said the number one of the FIGC. This revolution aims to minimize controversies and altercations between referees, players and coaches. The concept will also be to dilute possible controversies, those excesses towards the referees that the heads of the Italian Association of Referees, Carlo Pacifici and Gianluca Rocchi have pointed out as no longer tolerable.
