A cash machine. In recent years, Leipzig has often been looted. The best elements of the German stable have been bought by clubs of a higher caliber. This was particularly the case for Dayot Upamecano, who joined Bayern Munich, or Timo Werner, bought by Chelsea before finally returning last year. This summer of 2023, Leipzig has already lost Christopher Nkunku.

The Frenchman has been in agreement with Chelsea for a long time, even if the news was made official a short time ago. It is 60 million euros which thus entered the coffers of the Bundesliga team. The latter also recovered 70 million euros thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai, bought by Liverpool. If Konrad Laimer has not brought in anything since he joined Bayern Munich free, Josko Gvardiol is likely to bring in big money. Picture explains that he is expected to become the most expensive defender in history as he is expected to be sold for over €100m to Manchester City.

Leipzig must replace 4 captains

All these sales will therefore allow the Germans to collect at least 230 million euros. A large part of this sum will be invested to strengthen the team. Picture also explains that the sporting director, Max Eberl, has traveled a lot in recent months in order to find new talents to recruit. He met a good dozen players including Nicolas Seiwald, Loïs Openda, for whom a fourth offer was made to Lens (43 million euros, plus bonus), and Xavi Simons.

Bradley Barcola (OL) has also been approached, as has his teammate Castello Lukeba who should be the subject of a good offer as explained on our site. Micky van de Ven and El Chadaille Bitshiabu are also in the Germans’ crosshairs. Ditto for Lutsharel Geertruida according to Picture. After another XXL bloodletting, RB Leipzig is preparing a new raid. And the 230 million euros collected will not be too much to make big hits.
