The DNCG took the decision at the start of the week to regulate the payroll and compensation for OL transfers during this summer transfer window.

John Textor’s project got off to a bad start at Olympique Lyonnais. Barely at the helm of the club instead of Jean-Michel Aulas, the American businessman was pinned down by the DNCG, the financial policeman of French football. OL’s payroll and transfer allowances will be regulated and Lyon will therefore not have a free hand during this summer transfer window. A blow for the general staff of Les Gones and yet, the news is not that dramatic according to Sofiane Zouaoui.

On the antenna of RMC, the one who is a consultant but also a Lyonnais sympathizer did not hide that this placing under supervision of OL by the DNCG reassured him since the restrictions imposed by the financial policeman of French football were going to force John Textor to maintain a certain economic balance. This also demonstrates a very limited confidence in the new owner of Olympique Lyonnais.

The DNCG on the back of OL, reassuring news?

“The decisions of the DNCG against OL do not worry me more than that. Afterwards it’s true that on communication, when you start a project for Textor it’s not great. But basically I think it’s good news because it’s what Lyon needs at the precise moment. OL needs a coherent and quantified approach in relation to the budget presented. I am very suspicious of Textor but if he has an instance to regulate it to a minimum, I say why not” analyzed the RMC journalist before concluding.

“For a club that is going to have a second season without a European Cup, you need financial control. In addition, it will force OL to work on its payroll. A lot of big salaries are already gone, it’s important to have a sword of Damocles to free up the payroll. Finally, being framed in terms of wages and transfers will force Lyon to work with more precision on the transfer market. It’s good that Textor is slowed down, that he knows that in France there is a body that tells him ‘here it’s not the United States’, that there is a body to regulate “ said Sofiane Zouaoui in After Foot. While it is rather common to worry and annoy these kinds of restrictions, the Lyon sympathizer is reassured by the guardianship of John Textor. There is no doubt that the American has a very different opinion on the matter.
