AC Milan had taken the lead in the Christian Pulisic case, but John Textor made it a personal matter. The Olympique Lyonnais boss has made a vastly superior offer to Chelsea for the American striker.

Notwithstanding the fact that the DNCG has not yet validated OL’s budget, and aware that we should not be late in this transfer window, the owner of Olympique Lyonnais is incisive. And The Athletic launches a bombshell, confirmed by L’Equipe, claiming that the Rhone leaders have offered 25 million euros to Chelsea to afford Christian Pulisic. Two weeks ago, French Football Weekly had already mentioned Lyon’s interest in the American international striker from the Blues, but the transfer amount and Pulisic’s salary seemed to be from another era. However, Textor knows that his compatriot is a star in the United States, and three years from the World Cup recruiting him would necessarily have a big impact. Hence this offer of 25 million euros which leaves AC Milan very far.

Milan failed, OL attacked Pulisic

For a few days, the agreement seemed close between the Rossoneri and Chelsea for the transfer of the 24-year-old striker. But, according to James Honcastle and David Ornstein, the two journalists in charge of this file, the Italian club only offered 14 million euros to the leaders of the English team. And at that price, the Milan proposal was brushed aside, even if Christian Pulisic only has a one-year contract left with Stamford Bridge and the two clubs get along well, as proof the recent transfer of Ruben Loftus Cheek.

So John Textor offered him 25 million euros, an already much larger offer and which is now being studied by Chelsea. However, Olympique Lyonnais still has two concerns in this case, namely that the American player had already reached an agreement with Milan, but above all, the meeting scheduled for this week with the DNCG must go well. If so, then OL could strike a first blow during this 2023 transfer window.
