OL will have to do without Jean-Michel Aulas, who was club president from 1987 to 2023. But fans don’t want to forget everything JMA has accomplished for Les Gones.

It’s the end of a cycle at OL! At the end of last season, John Textor officially put an end to the presidency of Jean-Michel Aulas. The American owner wants to launch a new project with almost total control over the decisions and the men he will place. JMA had been president of OL since 1987 and inevitably, he will leave a huge void in the hearts of the fans. Fans who enjoyed the game produced during a period when the Rhone club won 7 titles in a row from 2002 to 2008. If the dynamic has been much less good in recent years, Jean-Michel Aulas has left as a lord. And on the Groupama Stadium side, we don’t want to forget everything that has been accomplished. A fan of the Lyon club even has a major project to pay tribute to JMA.

Jean-Michel Aulas, a major tribute to come?

In effect, Progress reports in recent hours that an OL fan, Guy Kattan, dreams that a statue in the likeness of Jean-Michel Aulas will be built at Groupama Stadium. The idea is gaining ground and a well-known sculptor has even given his approval to carry out this project. For this, an agreement will nevertheless have to be reached with Olympique Lyonnais. “Great men deserve this eternal recognition during their lifetime”, notably specified Guy Kattan, who also specified that he had a similar project for… Michel Drucker, whose statue he would like to see in front of the Pavillon Gabriel in Paris. It remains to be seen whether his somewhat crazy project will succeed. Note that he is not the only OL fan who wants to do something for Jean-Michel Aulas. Many club fans had floated the idea of naming one of the stadium stands after him. It is now up to the Lyon club to make a decision on the best decision to adopt.
