Looking for a central defender during this summer transfer window, Leipzig could abandon the Castello Lukeba track to focus on El Chadaille Bitshiabu, at the end of his contract with PSG in June 2024.

As is the case during each transfer window, German clubs have their eyes fixed on Ligue 1 to do their bit. This is particularly the case for RB Leipzig, which has made Loïs Openda its priority in attack. In the defensive sector, several players playing in France are also on the radar of the German club. For several days, Castello Lukeba has been a prime target for Red Bull Leipzig. Currently at Euro Espoirs, the defender of Olympique Lyonnais has already established himself as one of the most gifted players of his generation in Europe and John Textor would not be against his sale in order to bail out the cash desks of OL with a transfer estimated at 30 million euros.

El Chadaille Bitshiabu rather than Lukeba in Leipzig?

Lyon supporters are much more reluctant to lose their defensive rock. Good news for them, Leipzig could finally tackle another Ligue 1 player. According to information from Sky Sport Germany, the leaders of the RBL are very interested in the prospect of bringing in El Chadaille Bitshiabu during the summer transfer window in central defense. If he has proven less than Castello Lukeba in Ligue 1 for the moment, the Paris Saint-Germain defender has the advantage of being out of contract in a year, which considerably lowers his rating.

In addition, Paris Saint-Germain will be much less financially demanding with Bitshiabu than OL with Lukeba. To everyone’s surprise, Leipzig could therefore abandon the track leading to the Lyonnais… unless the German club’s objective is to recruit the two players, which Sky Sport Germany is unaware of for the moment. Be that as it may, the defensive rocks of the French championship are still as popular in Europe and particularly in Germany, an observation that is confirmed every year.
