With Jeffinho’s transfer to Olympique Lyonnais this winter, Botafogo owner John Textor had drawn the wrath of Brazilian fans. Their reaction was not lost on the winger who promised to return to the Rio de Janeiro-based club one day.

We can speak of an encouraging half-season for Jeffinho. After his signing last January, as part of a transfer for 10 million euros (plus 2.5 million euros in bonuses), the Olympique Lyonnais winger did not impose himself in the eleven of coach Laurent Blanc. But the Brazilian, slowed down by physical glitches for his debut, was generally satisfactory during his 11 appearances in all competitions (2 goals and 1 assist).

The winter recruit was able to show his qualities of percussion despite the adaptation time necessary to get used to his new team and to Ligue 1. His first rather positive months were undoubtedly followed by the side of Botafogo, his former club whose the supporters had taken his departure badly. Auriverde fans were especially upset with owner John Textor who had taken advantage of his double role to transfer Jeffinho. For his part, the Gone is delighted with his arrival in Lyon, but regrets the conditions and the reactions caused by his departure.

Jeffinho hopes to return to Botafogo

This is why the former Botafogo player wanted to reassure those who adored him on the side of Rio de Janeiro. ” The supporters and people of the club were angry, but they were also happy for me that I signed for OLtold the Lyonnais to Globo Esporte. I promised them to come back one day, and God willing, I will. Who knows, to play in an international competition like the Copa Libertadores? In the meantime, Jeffinho is taking advantage of the Botafogo facilities to keep in shape while on vacation.
