OM are no longer alone, Vitinha also flopped in Portugal

Portugal missed their entry into the Euro Espoirs by losing 2-0 to Georgia. The observation is even truer for Vitinha. The OM striker only convinced his coach for 45 minutes on Wednesday evening.

A track exit that hurts for Portugal. In a perilous group with Belgium and the Netherlands, the Seleçao started the Euro Espoirs against Tom Thumb Georgia. Facing the co-organizer, the task promised to be simple for Portugal and their striker Vitinha. But the Georgians surprised their prestigious opponent by winning 2-0. A gap acquired in a nightmare first half for the Portuguese. The evening was even more difficult for Vitinha, the Marseillais suffering a real disavowal from his coach.

Vitinha on the street also with Portugal

The latter took him out at halftime and replaced him with the so-called Henrique Araujo. No physical problem, simply a sporting choice. It must be said that in 45 minutes Vitinha was practically invisible. He weighed little on the match, only making a shot off target and not really very dangerous. This coaching will not have changed anything in the Portuguese destiny but it sounds bad for the OM player.

Indeed, the latter remains highly contested on the Canebière since his transfer to 32 million euros last winter. With only 2 goals in 16 games with OM, Vitinha is very far from having justified his expensive transfer from Braga. This new episode comes to give grain to grind to its detractors, who affirm that it does not succeed there for lack of level and not by maladjustment to Ligue 1, in Marseille, to Igor Tudor. Like his selection, there are at least two games left in Vitinha to show his true level in Europe. Otherwise, the striker exposes himself to real pressure from the OM public, especially since the European matches arrive very early this summer.
