OM is one of the clubs that will experience a very turbulent summer. Marcelino, who is going to join the Marseille club, will have to make some strong choices in his workforce.
In Marseille, we finally seem to have found our new coach. Indeed, the transfer window press agrees that Marcelino will be OM’s next coach. The Spaniard will have a lot of work to do to give a boost to a workforce marked by the Igor Tudor era. Especially since the Champions League play-offs will take place from August. This does not leave much time for OM to complete their transfer window. Among the yards are players returning from loan. And the fortunes are diverse for the latter. Few of them should have another chance to shine in the Marseille jersey.

Foot Mercato took stock of the situation in recent hours regarding the players loaned last season by OM. Salim Ben Seghir was able to show some good things with Valenciennes but is not part of Marseille’s plans. A future in Ligue 2 nevertheless seems to him promised. The outlet indicates that a transfer or a breach of contract is being considered. Regarding Jordan Amavi, loaned last season to Getafe, he only played 5 games with the Spanish club. His case is not easy, because he is still under contract until 2025. A discussion will take place with Marcelino but OM will certainly do everything to get rid of him. Another disappointing player, Pol Lirola. In Elche, he only played 11 games. His contract runs until 2026. OM want to sell him. Problem, few teams are interested at the moment…
The situation is more or less the same for Konrad de la Fuente, under contract until 2025 but who no longer has a future at OM. All is not bad, however, regarding the players returning from loan. Because Arek Milik will find his shoe with a permanent transfer to Juve. The Italian club will pay the 7 million of the purchase option, in the form of 6 M€ + 1 M€ bonus. Also, Isaak Touré will have shown great things in Auxerre. He should stay in Marseille but be loaned again to continue his progress. Finally, one case remains thorny, that of Pape Gueye. The Senegalese midfielder is coming out of a good season in Seville but the Andalusian team will not exercise the option to buy. Regarding OM, the club is still awaiting the CAS verdict on the transfer of the player from Watford. The decision is expected this summer. At the end of the contract in 2024, Gueye has a chance of being retained by Marcelino’s OM. As a reminder, Pablo Longoria has planned to change almost half of the Marseille squad…
