Following the refusal of Marcelo Gallardo, who did not want to land on the sidelines of Olympique de Marseille, Pablo Longoria thought he had found his happiness with Paulo Fonseca. Except that the Portuguese coach will finally stay in Lille.

In search of a new coach to succeed Igor Tudor, the Marseille club continues to fail. A time very close to completing the arrival of Marcelo Gallardo, OM finally suffered a first refusal from the Argentine coach at the start of the weekend.

This Sunday, Pablo Longoria had therefore decided to turn to his plan B, namely Paulo Fonseca. And while the negotiations seemed well advanced between Marseille and the Portuguese coach a few hours ago, the discussions are now closed, as Daniel Riolo explains.

“Fonseca will stay at LOSC next season”

“Completely crazy day at OM on the Fonseca file. This morning, no. At noon, advanced negotiations. And tonight, it’s over. Fonseca accepted his club’s decision without forcing the exit. OM had not contacted the club, but the coach directly. Attitude not very clear »explains, on Twitter, the RMC journalist, who therefore admits that the LOSC of Olivier Létang blocked the departure of Fonseca to OM.

Same story with Mohamed Bouhafsi, for whom “Fonseca will stay at LOSC next season”. This second failure in the space of a few hours will do a lot of harm to Pablo Longoria, who must now find another target in some urgency. Since without a coach, Marseille is falling behind in its recruitment, enough to rot the start of the summer transfer window and put all the Marseillais under pressure before the summer resumption.
