In the event of the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann on the PSG bench to succeed Christophe Galtier this summer, Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard will be two priority targets for the Parisian club.

In search of reliable players in the defensive sector, Paris Saint-Germain have already tied up the arrival of Milan Skriniar, at the end of the contract with Inter Milan. Before his recurring back injuries, the Slovak defender was a safe bet in Serie A but his physical condition raises questions. PSG, which separated from Sergio Ramos a few days ago, therefore wishes to recruit one or even two more players capable of playing in central defense.

According to information from L’Equipe, discussions are currently being held with Julian Nagelsmann on the constitution of the workforce for next season. In advanced discussions with PSG to take over from Christophe Galtier in the French capital, the former Bayern Munich coach suggested two names to his management: Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.

Nagelsmann appreciates Pavard and Lucas Hernandez

As for the left-hander, capable of playing as a central defender and full-back, a contractual agreement has already been reached with his entourage but negotiations are currently at a standstill with Bayern Munich, including coach Thomas Tuchel imperatively wants to extend it when his contract expires in June 2024. More surprisingly, Julian Nagelsmann also blew the name of Benjamin Pavard to the staff of Paris Saint-Germain.

Like Lucas Hernandez, the native of Maubeuge is at the end of his contract with Bayern Munich in 2024. Unlike the former defender of Atlético de Madrid, Benjamin Pavard is not, however, the subject of advanced discussions for an extension at Bayern. PSG appreciates his profile as a central defender capable of playing in a right-back position and is thinking of him in particular in the event of the departure of Achraf Hakimi, who has expressed the wish to leave the Parisian club in the coming weeks. It now remains to be seen whether Paris SG and Bayern Munich will find an agreement for the Pavard-Hernandez package. If so, the defense of Paris could take on a Franco-Bavarian accent in the coming weeks.
