A decision that surprised some observers given the lack of pace of Houssem Aouar, little used by Laurent Blanc at OL this season. Belmadi welcomes Aouar’s departure to Rome
The winner of the 2021 African Cup of Nations also commented on Aouar’s choice to leave OL and join AS Roma. The Algerian coach believes that this decision can only be beneficial to the former Lyon playmaker, who will come out of his comfort zone and face a new culture and a new championship in Rome, where rigor will be much more important with a coach like José Mourinho.

He’s a truly world-class player.” rejoiced Djamel Belmadi, for whom it was therefore obvious to coach Houssem Aouar despite his lack of playing time in the colors of Olympique Lyonnais this season, after the player’s decision to represent Algeria rather than the France in selection.
