Clément Turpin is no longer the number 1 referee in French football, according to the official classification of the Federal Commission of Referees.
Leader of referees in France and regularly appointed by UEFA to officiate during certain big Europa League and Champions League matches, Clément Turpin is no longer the No. 1 referee in France. In any case not for the 2022-2023 season, according to the official classification established by the Federal Referees Commission, which evaluates Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 referees throughout the season.

In the final ranking established by the CFA, it is François Letexier who sits in first place for the 2022-2023 season. Not really a surprise since the 34-year-old referee received the title of best referee of the season in Ligue 1 two weeks ago at the UNFP trophy ceremony. Clément Turpin is however not very far from the elite since he is in second place in the classification of the Federal Commission of Referees. Benoît Millot completes the podium while Stéphanie Frappart, once voted best Ligue 1 referee at the UNFP trophies, is fourth.
Gael Angoula promoted to Ligue 1
Note also that the ranking reveals that Karim Abed has been relegated to Federal 2 level and will therefore referee in Ligue 2 next season. On the contrary, the former Evian TG defender, Gaël Angoula, was promoted to Ligue 1. This is also the case for Romain Lissorgue. Like every year, the stars of PSG, OM and even OL will therefore have to deal with new faces. For Clément Turpin, the challenge for the coming season will be to regain his first place so as not to be less in demand by UEFA in the years to come for Europa League and Champions League matches.
