Convincing 5th in Ligue 1 with LOSC, Paulo Fonseca made a successful debut in Ligue 1. The 50-year-old Portuguese is a logical target for OM, in search of a new coach. Pablo Longoria has started the big maneuvers to guarantee his arrival this summer.

In terms of play and results, it was the pleasant surprise of European qualifiers in Ligue 1. LOSC brilliantly snatched their ticket to C4 with a 5th place, having even come close to 4th place synonymous with the Europa League. A very positive result while the northern club had finished the previous season in 10th place. Not bad either for his trainer Paulo Fonseca who was having his first experience in France. The Portuguese has often been praised for the quality of his team’s play and his offensive tendencies.

Fonseca-Longoria, contact established

A profile that has everything to please OM, orphaned by Igor Tudor for a week now. If Pablo Longoria has activated his networks in Italy, Paulo Fonseca is in the sights of the Marseille president. According to journalist Marwan Belkacem, the Portuguese technician is one of the priority names on Longoria’s coaching list. A real love at first sight which is already materializing in practice since the president of OM has started negotiations with the coach’s entourage.

A close collaborator of the Portuguese confirmed it to Goal Football Club. OM have taken a first concrete approach and have declared their intention to appoint Paulo Fonseca to the Marseille bench. If OM are attractive with a possible Champions League to play for, Fonseca will not have the last word in the story. Indeed, LOSC still has him under contract until 2024 and Olivier Létang is known to be fierce in business. The Lille president had asked Nice for 4 million euros to sell Christophe Galtier in the same contractual situation in 2021. Good news for OM supporters, Pablo Longoria is ready to buy out the last year of the Portuguese’s contract. Such a CV in Ligue 1 cannot be refused for the Marseille president…
