PSG almost had a rookie stolen before their eyes, but it was without counting on the muscular reaction of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi who won his case after threatening to call on UEFA for help.

The PSG transfer window should suddenly accelerate in the coming hours. The season is over in the major championships, and if there is still the Champions League final, the upheavals of the summer are already approaching. The famous coaches waltz is getting ready, but on the side of Paris, we are also working on the first acquisitions. Two types of players are in high demand: those who are free and therefore free, and those who have a release clause deemed affordable.

Chelsea offers an unprecedented deal in the history of football

No club-to-club negotiation with release clauses, very popular in Spain and Portugal. This is why PSG has decided to push hard to bring in Manuel Ugarte, the Sporting Portugal midfielder. Like Paris, Chelsea also intended to put 60 million euros on the table to bring in the Uruguayan player. But to tip the balance in their favor, the London club has clearly gone too far. Several media outlets have revealed that the Blues have offered surprising counterparts. As well as possible bonuses that pushed the transfer total beyond the release clause, there was also the possibility of a minority stake in the Portuguese club in exchange for the delivery of Ugarte. Just to pull the rug out from under everyone’s feet, and ensure future transfers without batting an eyelid?

PSG threatens to warn UEFA

Rumors that reached the ears of Luis Campos, who knows the Portuguese championship well, then of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Everything then got carried away, says the English media The Athletic, which explains that the president of PSG has summoned Sporting to explain these negotiations biased by an approach of a new kind. In the absence of a satisfactory response, the Qatari leader warned that he would notify UEFA to initiate an investigation into these disturbing actions, if not clearly illegal. A brutal reaction which had an immediate effect since Chelsea seems to have withdrawn from the race for the Sporting player, who takes the direction of PSG for the 60 million euros of the release clause. His signature is expected for this Tuesday, as confirmed by transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano. Time will tell if this is a good deal, but Paris will not have paid a cent more than the expected amount, and will have been able to be vigilant against a Chelsea club visibly ready to try new things to remove the bet on the transfer window.
