OM are going to have a very eventful summer. Pablo Longoria’s priority is to find a new coach for the Marseille club.

Igor Tudor’s men have completely collapsed in Ligue 1 in the race for the title and the podium. OM ended their season third and will therefore have to play the play-offs to try to qualify for the Champions League. Before August and these already decisive meetings, the Marseille management will have to reassure very quickly. And that will not pass the arrival of a new trainer, while Igor Tudor left the ship in a hurry. First names have been cited to take over from the Croatian, such as Marcelino or Marcelo Gallardo. Present for the past few hours at a press conference, Pablo Longoria gave an update on the future coach of OM.

Longoria clears things up

The Marseille president took the opportunity to enlighten observers and fans about the strategy that will be used, while avoiding naming names. “We always want to open a cycle with a coach. It’s positive but I’m not happy to have suffered the resignations of Tudor and Sampaoli. As a club, it’s easier to continue with an ideology. (…) There are contacts with coaches, it’s normal. It would be irresponsible on our part otherwise. We evaluate coach profiles and open a cycle with as much success as possible in this club. Culture of work, rigor and discipline then a style of play that corresponds to the club… This is what we expect from the coach. Here in Marseille, you need a special style. We must make the Vélodrome a strength, not a weakness. For that to happen, we need attacking play and quick transitions. Pepper in the game. We have seen it in the past or even this season in a few. (…) To speak of individual profiles today would be a lack of respect. Discussions with a coach must remain in the private domain, it is a primary code of football”, said Pablo Longoria, who therefore no longer wants to make the same mistakes as in the past. Still a little patience for OM fans, a little lost regarding their club’s strategy.
