Top scorer of RC Lens (21 goals) this season in Ligue 1, Loïs Openda should join the Bundesliga and more precisely Leipzig. The two clubs are said to be currently negotiating to finalize the transfer.

Lens have had a huge run in the Championship this season, with the Sang et Or finishing just one point behind Paris Saint-Germain. Qualified for the Champions League, the northern club knows however that European teams have seen the wealth of the Lensois workforce. And in the locker room of Bollaert a player arouses many desires, it is about Loïs Openda. Fourth in the Ligue 1 scorers’ rankings, the 23-year-old Belgian international striker arrived at RC Lens from Bruges last year for “only” 9.8 million euros. And according to various German journalists, the leaders of Leipzig have made Loïs Openda the number 1 track to replace Christopher Nkunku leaving for Chelsea, even if this has not yet been formalized.

Openda instead of Nkunku

While waiting for the French striker to join the London club, Leipzig has already advanced its pawns. And Florian Plettenberg, journalist for Sky Germany, announces that an agreement in principle has been reached between the recent winner of the German Cup and Loïs Openda. Negotiations between the two clubs are now underway, the third in the Bundesliga rankings having offered 30 million euros to RC Lens to finalize the operation. Leipzig want to quickly move forward in this operation, in order to complete the replacement for Christopher Nkunku without waiting too long. It is true that the latter has brought a lot to the Bundesliga club, and that we must not miss this transfer window.
