French football still gives a terrible image this weekend. Saturday evening, during the Ajaccio-OM match, a young supporter suffering from brain cancer and invited by the Corsican club was attacked because he was wearing a Marseille jersey.
Suffering from cancer, the young Kenzo had been invited by Ajaccio to attend the match between the Corsican club and Olympique de Marseille, his favorite team. But the 8-year-old’s dream didn’t last long due to the violent and utterly sickening behavior of ” supporters from AC Ajaccio. Blocked by the latter in a staircase leading to a lodge, Kenzo and his family were brutalized, the little boy’s OM jersey having been snatched from him and then burned, while his father was beaten. A very violent scene which inevitably shocked everyone, including within the Corsican club. In a press release, AC Ajaccio, which was at the initiative of the arrival of this seriously ill child, promises to find the perpetrators of this bestial aggression.

Thank you all from Kenzo and his family for your immense support and solidarity. I showed your messages to Kenzo, who is very touched. He is recovering slowly. His exchange with his idol @MatteoGuendouzi put some balm on his 💙 https://t.co/2pLATOTGot pic.twitter.com/H8LQnys9Fg— Stephanie Freedman (@Steph13Freed) June 3, 2023
” On April 25, AC Ajaccio had the pleasure of hosting the association ” Red ladybugs for Thomas” at the François-Coty stadium. Among the children of this association was little Kenzo, who was suffering from cancer. He had expressed his dream of meeting the players of Olympique de Marseille, the club of his city and his heart. Kenzo and his family were invited to the François-Coty stadium on the initiative of the Rotary Club and the president of Air Corsica, so that the child realizes his dream during the ACA-OM meeting this evening. The dream quickly turned into a nightmare when Kenzo and his parents, who came in the colors of Olympique de Marseille, were shamefully abused by individuals who broke into their dressing room. Alerted, the security of the club intervened. Kenzo and his family were taken care of by the club’s services and accompanied to the changing room area so that the child could fulfill his dream. These individuals in no way represent the values of our club and our island. Even the most extreme stupidity cannot excuse these behaviors! The club strongly condemns these unspeakable acts! AC Ajaccio will shed full light on these shameful actions. As soon as the individuals have been identified by our services, we will file a complaint against them. AC Ajaccio stands in solidarity with little Kenzo and his parents “, specifies the Corsican club about this aggression. And unfortunately, other incidents marred the evening.
A journalist attacked by OM fans
Indeed, if Friday evening, a hunt for OM supporters had been launched in Ajaccio, this time it was offensive and racist songs that welcomed the 600 Marseille fans who came to watch the match. The latter were not left out, however, with several fights, and even the brutal attack on a journalist from France Television after the meeting on the grounds that the latter was filming them. The Disciplinary Committee will obviously take up all this and decide what follow-up to these totally scandalous incidents.
