While some claimed that Christophe Galtier could stay on the PSG bench for another year, this will not be the case. The Emir of Qatar is in Paris and brutal decisions will follow.

Present in Paris, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani is not only there to watch matches at Roland-Garros. The Emir of Qatar will attend Paris Saint-Germain’s last match this season this Saturday evening, it will be against Clermont at the Parc des Princes. Even if the celebration of the 11th title will be reduced to a minimum given Sergio Rico’s dramatic accident, PSG will complete a championship that will not go down in history. And that will be worth to Christophe Galtier to pack his suitcase a year before the end of the contract, which was to end in 2024. The French coach, who wanted to believe in the miracle, will not be kept and will be thanked very quickly. According to Loïc Tanzi, Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani jointly decided that Galtier was not the man for the job and his dismissal was recorded.

The Emir and Nasser chose to replace Galtier

It is true that between mediocre results in 2023, the ongoing affair on the Nice side and a few failed media releases, cake did not live up to expectations. And what about the disastrous elimination in the Champions League against Bayern Munich after two shabby games? Facing Clermont, Christophe Galtier will therefore live his last 90 minutes as coach of Paris Saint-Germain, and it is an understatement to say that his departure will not cause a wave of emotion among the supporters. The latter now only want to know one thing, who will succeed Galtier on the bench of the champions of France. To date, three names have come back: José Mourinho, Luis Enrique and Thiago Motta. But one of them may have lost big points this week.

The behavior of José Mourinho after the final lost by AS Roma against Sevilla shocked a lot of people. And on the PSG side, we do not want to recruit a coach who will arrive with a huge controversy on his back, and a possible heavy sanction in the Champions League. It could therefore be that the final opposes Luis Enrique to Thiago Motta, without to date, we can clearly know which of the two has taken the advantage. After Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and Christophe Galtier, Paris Saint-Germain will have a fourth coach in three years, a nice record which puts PSG in competition with OM in this area.
