Monaco will try and take one step closer to the Champions League group stage on Tuesday evening when they face Young Boys of Berne in the second leg of their third qualifying round tie.

Les Monegasques take a 3-1 lead into the home game following an excellent performance in Switzerland, and it should be plain sailing for the Ligue 1 side to make it through to the next playoff round.

The away side are missing five players, and it was confirmed on Monday that former Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain stiker, Guillaume Hoarau, will also miss the second leg.

Monaco have named both Bernardo Silva and Aymen Abdennour in the matchday group and unlike Young Boys, they have a full squad to choose from.

GKs: Subasic, Nardi
DFs: Abdennour, Carvalho, Fabinho, Kurzawa, Raggi, Wallace
MFs: Bakayoko, Dirar, Moutinho, Pasalic, B. Silva, Toulalan, Adama Traoré
FWs: Bahlouli, Cavaleiro, Carrillo, El Shaarawy, Martial.

With just days before Leonardo Jardim’s side start their new league season, the Portuguese coach will be hoping to come through unscathed with a positive result and without any injuries.

As there have been a high number of changes to the squad this summer, Jardim will be delighted with the way his new signings have bedded in. Guido Carrillo scored on his competitive debut, as did Chelsea loanee Mario Pasalic in an impressive performance.

The spine of the squad is strong, and the remaining players from last season – Silva, Abdennour, Kurzawa etc – will play a huge part in Monaco’s success. The players may change, but the 4-2-3-1 formation and Jardim’s style remains the same.

That continuity will play a huge role this season and in their quest for Champions League football.
