At the start of the 2012/13 season the French Football Weekly team made predictions on where all 20 Ligue 1 sides would finish at the end of the season. It’s time to reveal the results.
Before we do, it is quite interesting how the last set of fixtures completely changed the final standings, which shows you how unpredictable the league can still be.
Points were assigned by how well each person placed each team. Get the position correct and you receive five points; one place out – 3 points; and two places out -one point.
Of course everyone had PSG to win the league, no one called Marseille in second, and only two people got Marseille in third, one of them Steve, our resident Marseille fan.
Before the last set of fixtures we took a look at the points and positions and this is how it looked.
1. Jeremy – 33pts
2. Nicholas – 26
3. Steve – 26
4. TEAM – 23
5. Stephane – 21
6. Vaishali – 20
7. Philippa – 20
8. Andrew – 20
9. Jason – 20
10. Jonathan – 14
11. Bastien – 12
The TEAM standing is the positions picked by averaging the ten predictions, so fourth is pretty decent – overall we got three teams correct, four out by one, and one team out by two, on those average placings.

Congratulations to Jason, Vaishali and Steve for finishing top of the pile with a decent score of 30 points, two above the team average. Jason and Vai jumped up by 10 points after the final round of games for a wonderful finish, also Jon jumped by 11 points, and Philippa by nine – crazy scenes, you wouldn’t think that the standings would change so much within one week! In fact, 14 teams changed position from the 37th to 38th matchday. It shows that Ligue 1 is still one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.
The wooden spoon goes to Bastien. He got PSG and Lyon’s position correct, but otherwise only gained from Valenciennes’ and Troyes’ final positions.
Thanks to everyone for following the coverage throughout the season.
