Ligue 1: The Best of 2011 – Part 1

December 31, 2011 9:00 am

Here we are the last day of 2011. It has been a fantastic year for French Football Weekly and Ligue 1. Today we are going to be reminiscing some of the best moments of the year.

To start us of Andrew Gibney picks his moment of 2011:

“It has to be Eden Hazard’s goal against Marseille in the Stade Velodrome back in March. Obviously both teams going for the title. This is the goal that started Lille’s charge to Le Championnat. This gave the side the belief to go on and lift their first title in over 50 years.”

Friend of the site Bastien Leclair from Stade Rennais Online also picked Hazard’s goal as his moment of the year. To be nice to Bastien lets show the 5-1 victory that kicked off Rennes season away at Dijon. This match displayed some of the best counter-attacking football in Ligue 1.

Next up is Antoine Furet who contacted us on twitter to pick out his best moment of 2011. This includes Rennes again but this time they were on the receiving end. Antoine has picked Nolan Roux’s excellent strike that lead Brest to a excellent 2-0 win over their Brittany rivals.

“Nolan Roux’s blast against Rennes. Outside the box, top left corner.”
