This December 28 in Spain is the Day of the Holy Innocents, the equivalent of the famous “April Fools” which on 1er April sweeps across France. Traditionally, the Iberian press plays with the credulity of some to amuse others, by embellishing its pages and reports with more or less credible information created from scratch.
For the occasion, Mundo Deportivo struck hard by announcing an agreement in principle reached between Real Madrid and PSG for the transfer of Vinicius Jr next summer. A fictitious trip by the Brazilian to China, near Wuhan, would have allowed the Merengue star to put together a Parisian deal for a period of ten years while going under the radar of the White House.
A real warning nonetheless
Obviously, some in Spain allowed themselves to be trapped. And the rumor caught like wildfire on social networks. Especially since PSG’s alleged interest in Real Madrid’s crack player is not new in itself. On the other side of the Pyrenees, while the deception was quickly admitted, some also see it as a truthful warning.
Still as important in Carlo Ancelotti’s system, fresh winner of the Fifa The Best trophy when the 2024 Ballon d’Or passed under his nose in favor of Rodri, Vinicius Jr certainly has no shortage of courtiers. If he is linked to Madrid until 2027, the person concerned could soon extend with a clear salary increase at stake, he who aspires to the same emoluments as his new teammate, Kylian Mbappé.
